Friday flurries

It is officially starting to feel like winter and Christmas here....at least to me. I woke up to a dusting of snow on the ground and the flurries kept falling all day. There isn't much out there now. The temperatures have dropped and that is a sure sign winter is on it's way.

To document Day 4 in my December Daily, I grabbed my Polaroid camera and took a photo from the office window. I think the film is getting old since the coloring was a little off, but it doesn't bother me. (By the way...so glad Polaroid film is coming back in 2010.) Also, not sure why my writing looks so blurred...it is fine in person.

Week 10 of Yesterday & Today started yesterday and today I finished up week nine. Week nine was documenting a day in your life. Even though I just did my "A Week in the Life" album a couple months ago, this layout and day was focused more on documenting and trying to capture different photos and moments. Once again, Ali shared her layout and ideas for us to have a starting point. This is a two-page 12x12 layout.

Hope you have a great weekend. I'm running from event to event all weekend and will hopefully be able to post Day 5 and Day 6 on Sunday night. If not then, I'll get it done on Monday.

Have a nice weekend getting in the spirit of the season.

one, two, three

I picked up the photos for days one and two today so I could get those entries completed. For day three, I didn't need a photo which made it easy.

Here are the first three days...

Day One: wrapping gifts (and thanks Nicole for the cute page protector!)

Day Two: my chocolate advent calendar.

Day Three: my to do list....gotta love lists.

So far, so good....I'm staying caught up. We'll see how the rest of the days go. :)

Y&T

Over the last nine weeks or so, I have been taking Ali's Yesterday & Today class through Big Picture Scrapbooking along with Nicole. I can't give enough praise for this class and for everything Ali has been challenging us to do and create. As you can guess by the title, we are taking a look back at our past and seeing where we are right now. I have had to pull out my box of photos from my grandma and grandpa's house along with the album I started of them from their childhood on. I'm so thankful for this journey this class has lead me on and I'm looking forward to the last three. (Although I wish it would keep going.)

Each week is a new concept about our past, present, or both. Ali shares a layout template with us and we create our own based on it by adding our words and stories. The following layouts are based on Ali's layouts, sketches, and concepts...

The intro page to my 12x12 album. Just a collection of photos from me as a baby until now.
Week 3: 6 Childhood Memories
Week 4: Telling a Challenging Story. For me it was my relationship with my dad and him not being here.
Week 5: You Should Know. Random bits about me.
Week 6 part 1: A Timeline. I started with photos of my grandma and grandpa as kids followed by them as adults and then with my mom and dad which ended with me now.
Week 6 part 2: The Unexpected Life. Just thoughts about what I thought I would be doing at this point in my life.
Week 7: Compare and Contrast. I found this photo of my grandpa taken in his photography studio and knew I needed to use it.
Week 8: Perspective. Things about me using the prompts go, play, love, see, work, am, live, eat, make, dream, and think.
Week 9 is happening right now. I am documenting a day in the life. Hoping to have that layout completed in the next few days.

As this class is finishing up, I have been checking out the options for some that start after the new year. Elizabeth is teaching Inspiration Defined which looks great. Thinking this will be the next one for me.

(Sorry for the not-so-great photos....it gets dark so early now.)

a month later

November came and went just like that. It was definitely a month filled with fun times along with some scary ones too. Things are looking better now and I'm excited to see what December has in store.

Since today is December 1, it's time to start the good old December Daily once again. A couple of weeks ago, Nicole and I met up for our monthly scrap night and created our books. I think this is the best part of the whole process....we had so much fun coming up with pages. This year we each brought some pre-made pages we created at home with our sewing machines since it wasn't an option to bring them along with all of our other supplies. Also, I have to say Ali's ideas were the inspiration for quite a few of our pages.

Here is a look at my cover and the tops of the pages. We told each other we are both going to try posting our pages each day, but we'll see how that goes and what time allows. I'm thinking some days will be catch up days...for me at least. :)

So 2009 is coming to an end quickly which means 2010 is almost here. I have been thinking lately about my new word for the new year. In the past I have have CREATE, DO, and BE. With each word and year, I add a Lisa Leonard word charm to my necklace. I have my 2010 word picked out and the charm is in this box waiting to be added to the others where it will stay until 1.1.10.
So, if you're still looking for Christmas gifts...you can give delicious food or custom jewelry.

Also, I'm hoping to get my layouts photographed from Ali's Yesterday & Today class I'm taking. Nicole has posted her awesome layouts and I figured I'll post mine too. Just need to make time to get that done.

Happy December 1. Take time to enjoy each day. I know I'm sure going to try.

I'm still here.
Had an awesome time in Wisconsin with some of my favorite people.
We picked pumpkins, went to the fire station, laughed, and talked.
Good times.
This week is crazy busy.
It's all good.
Just busy.
Next Monday I will be able to relax again.

click and getting sick

This week as I've been documenting my life, I have been using a combo of cameras...my dSLR, my iPhone, and Photo Booth on my Mac. Even though the picture quality isn't always the best with my phone and on my computer, it's still fun to mix it up a bit. I need to remember to pull out my Polaroid to get some with that also.

The only reason I took the shower photo was because it's the only thing making me feel better tonight as I am dealing with a cold/allergies/sniffling/sneezing/stuffy head (I sound like a commercial).

Off to rest and hopefully wake up feeling much better. Night.

click.click.

I'm still here taking photos. I looked through my book from last year and am already noticing I'm taking photos of similar things. So for the rest of the week I'm going to see what new things I can capture. The photos above are a combo of yesterday and today.

Off to find some blankets. I guess there is a frost advisory tonight. It's only September.

Oh, and I know the photo of the garbage can is your favorite. :)

Click

This week some of my friends and I are doing A Week in the Life, Chapter Two. Last year we took Ali's challenge and thought it would be fun to try it again during the same week. It will be interesting to see what has changed and what has stayed the same.

I've been taking photos all day, but haven't downloaded any yet. Hope to in the morning.

completed

As you know, I have been taking Cathy's Me: The Abridged Version workshop over the last few weeks along with some of my friends. Today I created the last page which was to write a handwritten summary/message about the book. I've read through my album a couple of times. I've found typos and non-existant "see also's" as well, but I'm still happy with the way it turned out. This is an album that tells the little things about myself that don't get added to layouts...the things that make me me.

Thanks, Cathy, for another awesome class.
And to my friends also working on their albums, can't wait to see them. :)
